Dave Wheaton

Professional Experience

Dave joins Chantler & Company from a diverse litigation background in product liability, occupiers’ liability, professional errors and omissions, and business disputes. Having represented clients in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of BC, he is a persuasive advocate who prides himself on providing practical, timely, and cost-effective results for clients. He’s well-versed in all aspects of the litigation process, including case management, examinations for discoveries, chambers applications, mediations, expert selection and retention, and trial.

Dave’s practice involves real estate disputes, commercial disputes, professional errors and omissions, police misconduct, and administrative law. Happiest when diving into a nuanced legal issue, he has a deep interest in contemporary legal questions and the ability to see a matter from all sides. Before becoming a lawyer, Dave studied English Literature at the University of British Columbia, where he sharpened his analytical skills, developed a keen eye for detail, and learned the art of written argument. Through his skills and experience, Dave anticipates the strategic opportunities and pitfalls of a legal action and successfully guides matters towards a resolution, whether that be inside or outside the courtroom.

When he’s not practising law, you can find Dave mountain biking on the North Shore, reading a science fiction novel, practising guitar, homebrewing a pale ale, or going for a long walk with his dog, Arthur.
